Waalfront, Nijmegen

Nijmegen, together with Rabo Vastgoed, develops a new urban housing area including cultural and other facilities to the west of the city centre, directly at the river Waal. The Waalfront is a part of "Koers West", that also includes Park West, the new City bridge and the renovation of the industrial zone at the Maas-Waalkanaal. In cooperation with Lodewijk Baljon landscape-architects we are producing a masterplan for this area. The most important ingredients are the historic layers, a large roman town and the stronghold Fort Krayenhoff, the present industrial nature and the dynamics of the flowing water. It is our goal to use these ingredients in a renewing way for the identities within a unique new part of Nijmegen.
