Eekmaat, Enschede

A special residential building has been built; as an outpost of the town of Enschede and as the cornerstone of the Eekmaat neighbourhood. It is characterised by a sculptural form and a forceful expression. There is a wide choice of dwellings and each dwelling has an equally special quality. The plans are flexible, the flats are spacious and provided with generous outside areas, all south facing. The complex is constructed completely from sustainable materials. Dark, shiny bricks have been chosen in order to give the complex a dignified appearance. Despite its solid appearance, the building is definitely not closed. Large areas of glass provide an outlook and reflect the sunlight and the sky. The silvery sheen of the brickwork intensifies the light, so that the building shimmers in its surroundings and affords ample space for living in style.
