Monuta Funeral centre, Apeldoorn
Less and less often do people take their final leave of their loved ones in the privacy of the home. The funeral centre in Apeldoorn provides funeral lounges for friends and relatives to say farewell to the deceased. The lounges can be linked together to cater for larger funeral gatherings. The complex also includes four family rooms for private gatherings in more intimate surroundings. Each of these family rooms can be furnished in accordance with the user's requirements as to faith and atmosphere. The users receive a key to the room, which they can access at any time of day. Ingress to the lounges and the family rooms is via sheltered entrance patios. The large lounges receive daylight primarily through strip windows placed high overhead in the roof structure. The elongated complex of the funeral centre fronts onto the access road to a residential area. The facade on this side consists of a screen of cedarwood slats of varying sizes and spacing. This shields the complex from the road and parking areas and admits filtered daylight into the building. It gives the lounges and rooms a fitting tranquillity.Tall bay-windows penetrate the screen at regular intervals. The offer visitors to the funeral centre an outlook on the world.
