Monuta Funeral centre, Apeldoorn
Often, saying goodbye to a deceased loved one in the privacy of one's own home is not possible or not desirable. The funeral center in Apeldoorn therefore offers several rooms where family members or visitors can bid farewell. These rooms can be connected to accommodate larger groups as well. For more intimate, private gatherings, four family rooms have been included in the complex.
These family rooms can be arranged according to personal faith and atmosphere and are accessible at any hour of the day with a private key. The halls and rooms are entered through secluded entrance courtyards. Daylight enters the rooms through tall bands of windows in the roof structure.
The elongated complex of the funeral center forms a frontage along the access road of a residential neighborhood. The façade on this side consists of a screen of sustainable cedarwood slats of varying widths and spacing. This screen shields the complex from the road and parked cars, allowing only filtered light and views to pass through. It gives the halls and rooms a fitting sense of privacy. At regular intervals, tall glass bay windows break through the screen, offering visitors a glimpse of the outside world.
