Vathorst, Amersfoort

Vathorst is a new development on the outskirts of Amersfoort. A development with a lot of green zones and varied architecture. Between the Laaxumstraat and the water there are 22 luxury homes, designed by Dok Architects (Herman Zeinstra). Most homes cover the full depth of their plot. They vary from 172 m2 to 244 m2. The homes have a hall facing the street, with a garage and bedrooms on the first floor, and a rear part including a living room and a patio on the water. The middle section houses the kitchen and a dining area. Thanks to the different dwelling sizes, a varied picture has been created, both at the front and at the rear. The front and rear elevations are similar in detailing and materials. The individual elevations are framed by laminated wooden posts and beams filled in with glass, openable windows, wooden garage doors, or closed planes of wooden slats. The side elevations on the west side are of reddish purple brick and those on the east side are plastered in white. These white walls reflect the light into the alleys leading to the adjacent dwellings.
